How a garment moves through the shop
Four steps, all of them under this roof.
The machines are in the shop, not at a plant across town. That is why turnaround here is measured in days rather than weeks, and why rush work is possible at all.
The Fitting
Pins, chalk and a steel rule, standing up, in about five minutes. No appointment, no waiting room.
The Chalk
Shoulders, waist, sleeve, seat and length marked on the garment itself. Shoulders are the hard one, and they are done here.
The Bench
Cut and sewn on the shop's own industrial machines. Thin, delicate and difficult fabrics included.
The Press
Washed, pressed and finished before it goes back on the hanger, so it leaves ready to wear.
Alterations & Repairs
Bring it in today. Most people are told one or two days.
Suits taken in a full size. Trousers hemmed the same afternoon. Wedding trousers adjusted at the waist so they look like they came that way. Bring in whatever does not fit — menswear, womenswear, formal or everyday.

Two Juki industrial straight-stitch machines run behind the counter. Nothing is sent out and nothing waits on a courier, which is why the work comes back quickly and stays under one roof.

Do I need an appointment for alterations?
No. Taj Fashion is a walk-in shop. Bring the garment in any day except Sunday between 9:00 AM and 8:00 PM and you will be measured while you wait — the fitting usually takes about five minutes.
How fast can you alter a suit in Morton Grove?
Most alterations are ready in one to two days, and a simple job like a hem can often be done the same day. Rush work is possible when the schedule allows — ask when you drop off.
Do you alter wedding gowns and formal wear?
Yes. Wedding gowns, bridal and formal dresses, tuxedos and suits are all altered here, including shoulder work and full resizing.
Do you sell suits, or only alter them?
Both. Taj Fashion sells men's suits, tuxedos, dress shirts, ties and bow ties, and alters everything on site so it fits before you walk out.
Do you carry women's abayas?
Yes. There is a full rail of abayas in sage, dusty rose, lilac and black, and the same tailors handle abaya, dress and gown alterations.
